Birthday Dinner at Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo
At Le Grill of the Hôtel de Paris in Monte-Carlo, it is not the seventh but the eighth heaven that offers a magnificent panoramic view of the harbor of Monaco, filled with super yachts. Here on 19 June 2017, Jack and Iris enjoyed a delightful feast in celebration of Jack's birthday. The next table turned out to be wonderful company and local residents. A cousin of Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife began a conversation. We discovered many shared passions, particularly exotic automobiles. Meanwhile, in the harbor was resting the world's largest yacht, the Dilbar.
Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne began the gala event accompanied by enticing amuse-bouches. Ensuite, a blue lobster salad with avocado and mango paired with an incredible Aubaine Pouilly Fumé.
Next was wild mushroom risotto . . . yum, yum . . .
Then a succulent free-range cockerel seasoned with aromatic herbs, slowly grilled over olive branches and paired with pommes soufflés . . .
The courses kept coming! A Charolais filet mignon with black truffle sauce and French green beans tested our capacity while titillating our taste buds.
This array of culinary skill and art was accompanied by a marvelous claret, a splendid bottle of Léoville Las Cases, Saint Julien, 2004.
Glorious excess included two soufflés: Alain Ducasse chocolate and pistachio.
The grand finale was a snifter of Hennessy Paradis Cognac. What a way to celebrate growing older!
